|thetitankid asked: Do you have any tips or tricks or something like that on coloring? You're amazing -v-|
Aahhh thanks !! but im really not the one to ask about colouring , i tend to be all over the place at once when i colour. but i noted down a few things i do when i colour, so maaaaybe that helps idk
i prefer using a dark red, but I do use black at times too, it really depends on what the finished product is supposed to be like !
Slap on some base colour so you got that down, i actually tend to do all colours and shading on one layer because im incredibly lazy, and i get to use my magic little brush to blend colours with it each other a lot more easily
This is like basic colour stuff that’s all over tumblr in every colouring tutorial, but it really does matter a lot ! I tend to use a lot of unsaturated colours when i shade, but thats because im dead inside and my art reflects that. your art will look a lot more ”alive” if you use saturated colours, and theyre incredibly fun to play with when it comes to plants and green. especially blue - green - yellow is my favourite combination.
when i actually do use layers to shade, i usually just use a dark red colour and slap on a few splotches here and there on a multiply/shade/overlay layer, depending entirely on how saturated i want it to be.
i tend to use several layers for shadows, like one general one on ‘multiply’ for unsaturated shadows, while i have an additional one with ‘shade’ for more saturated shaded areas.
I rarely add a lot of detail to the eyes because it looks kinda wonky with my colouring style, but that doesnt mean i dont love going all sparkly anime eyes from time to time. multiply/shade and luminosity are great layers to use for eyes. basically huge contrasts and stuff, but ”dull” eyes can make wonders too, its all about balance !
my fAVOURITE layer effect is luminosity i f you havent noticed that yet (lmao), and it can just be used for anything. filling a luminosity layer with the bucket tool and fiddling with the opacity can bring life to a drawing immediately, and is a great ”cheat tool” to make your art looks fancy in a few clicks. i highly suggest playing around with stuff like luminosity and overlay on layers, and using saturated and unsaturated colours and adjust the opactiy of the layer because theres a lot you can do with just layers and the layer effects, so m an just try out stuff until you find something you like ! i m gonna go marry the luminosity option thats for sure
the worst part about ugly dudes is everyone defends them like ‘he’s really funny though’ or something but if a chick is ugly to someone they just straight up dirt like they might as well not even have a personality
